Vietnam

A country is not defined by a war.  It is defined by it’s people and it’s land.  Vietnamese people have fought through Japanese, French, and American attempts at control.  The number one second language in Vietnam is now English.  By their choice.  They posses the ability to forgive, unlike America.  We will forever think of Vietnam as a war, a single event which lost us the favor of the world.  But they are their own culture, their own places, they have their own battles, and their own victories.

This fall (2010) I will be journeying to Vietnam, to live and to experience the celebration of it’s capital: Hanoi.  The 1,000th anniversary will be an amazing sight, but it is also the everyday sights that I wish to seek.
